Has anyone ever told you that you have a great singing voice? Has it ever occurred to you that you might be able to launch a full or part-time career as a vocalist if you could only find the time and money to take online singing lessons? If so, online singing lessons may be for you, but ONLY if you have the self-discipline and commitment required for success!

A private voice coach or tutor will cost a minimum of $250 per week, and you have to schedule your sessions when the coach is available and not necessarily at your convenience. On the other hand, online voice training and development is available at a price to fit almost any budget, and you can take (and retake) each lesson when it is convenient for you. Imagine learning “warm-up” and “warm-down” techniques in the comfort of your own home on a rainy Sunday afternoon!
You can use any Internet search engine to find dozens of such online opportunities, as well as user evaluations and critical rankings. Here are a few examples, representing a wide range of prices, terms and products:
1. Explore Your Voice (exploreyouvoice.com). For a monthly fee of $9.95, you will have access to the six basic Explore Your Voice online modules, as well as 30 hours of additional tutorials, personal coaching, and production.
2. Singing Is Easy (easysinginglessons.com). For $29.99, you can obtain access to online software with 10 interactive chapters, audio, and quizzes. This program contains the official curriculum for the “Sing Smart, Not Hard” program.
3. Singing Voice Lessons Studios (singingvoicelessons.com). Coach Shelley Kristen offers one DVD and four audio CDs (containing 2 hours of instruction and 27 vocal exercises) for $49.97, or a downloadable version for $44.93. Both prices are limited time offers.
4. Virtual Voice Lessons (virtualvoicelessons.com). Coach Steve Childs offers 6 months’ access to 26 modules for $79.95.
5. Singorama 2.0 (singorama.com). Coach Emily Mander offers 28 interactive audio lessons plus a minirecording studio and “Perfect Your Pitch” bonus software with instant online access for $99.95 (if purchased before March 15, 2011).
6. Sing With Freedom (singwithfreedom.com). Per Barstow offers the “Bartsow Voice Method” (including lessons and access to workbooks, additional training, and a forum in “The Singing Zone”) for $177 (DVD version) or $137 (downloadable digital version).
7. Singing Made Simple (singingmadesimple.com). Four video modules, a members-only training center, and live, weekly Q&A sessions for $197.
8. Singing Success (singingsuccess.com). Use the 10-year-old training methods that celebrity vocalists such as Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus have relied on for $199.95. The program comes with a 6-month guarantee, and payment plans are available.
Online voice training can help you launch a new career, or make you stand out in your community vocal ensemble. However, let the buyer beware: online singing lessons generally do not include human feedback, the user learns nothing beyond what is included in the DVD/CD or downloadable package, and, most important of all, you MUST be very self-disciplined and committed to develop and train your voice without the structure and regimen of a live personal coach. Hope you enjoy Online Singing Lessons here.
